Fence Pickets - Measuring - Refer to
Fig. 12. Run a length of “Easy Mask” tape over the railing
and along the underside of Line FB. Measure over 2 ½"(6.35cm)
to the right of the right post face at Line FB. This is the
starting point for the first fence picket on the right. Find
a helper to hold the end of a metal measuring tape at this
point. Extending the tape along line FB, mark at 15"
(38.10cm) intervals (15", 30", 45", etc., 38.10cm,
76.20cm, 114.30cm) until you reach the end of the wall. DO
NOT USE A SHORT RULER FOR THIS STEP. At these marks, using
a level, draw vertical lines extending upward to the underside
of the railing. Three pickets will fit within each 15"
interval. The vertical lines are used to maintain the vertical
integrity of the fence. They will help to get the straightness
back on track if there is a slight variation from picket to
picket.
Measure over 5" (12.70cm) to the left of the left post
face at Line FB. This is the starting point for the first
fence picket on the left. Hold the end of a metal measuring
tape at this point measure 15" (38.10cm) intervals and
draw vertical lines as described above. All pickets will be
painted to the right of the drawn lines. |
